Pass Plus is a scheme put together by the Department of Transport to enhance the driving skills which you have already gained to pass your “L” Test. The course consists of 6 hours tuition either in your own or instructor’s car and covers the following subjects:

Town Driving

Rural Road Driving

All weather conditions (snow, bright sunlight, heavy rain etc) *

Dual carriageways and motorways

Night-time Driving

* Even though the UK’s weather is more than a little unpredictable, it will not be possible to drive in all weather conditions! Your instructor will give a detailed talk of those situations that you are unable to drive in.

Once you have successfully completed the course your instructor will complete a form which will be sent to the DSA. There is no examination.

The DSA will issue you with a certificate which could enable you to receive up to 30% off your car insurance. Your instructor will be able to provide you with a list of participating insurance companies which will issue discounts for drivers who have completed the Pass Plus course.
